CRUDE AWAKENING

I made a brief return to Payday 2 for it last heist where I helped out with the pipe puzzle design and was responsible for designing the final boss fight. The boss fight needed to be more difficult than anything before and there was no AI code support. I decided to design a bossfight with the environment in mind, The boss itself would be invulnerable initially and the only way to damage to him was when he was on fire.

I designed the boss room to have multiple oil valves and pit areas, players would have to crank the valves and fill the pits with the oil, then light it on fire while he was inside. Once on fire the boss could be damaged until the fire burnt out. The HP of the boss was balanced in a way so that you would have to do this procedure 3 times minimum if they where a full team of highly skilled playes,..

THE UKRANIAN PRISONER

The Ukranian Prisoner heist was part of the City of Gold Campaign and was about rescuing Vlad who was responsible for the gang messing with the Cartel in the Silk Road Campaign. During this time I was tutoring another level designer and designed a lot of the layout and objectives in the heist.. The focus here was to give the player choise as well as creating a payload mechanic during parts of the heist in wich Vlad was being driven around in the bucket of a skidloader.

BULUC'S MANSION

Buluc's Mansion was the last heist of the Silk Road campaign, it got more randomzation and player options than precious heists. For the end of the camplaign we wanted a showdown between the cartel leader and the gang.In order to make this feel spectacular a pet shark tank was added and if the players play their cards right they can feed the cartel leader to his own shark. The heist also lincorporated the cartel's relationship with santa muertoe and leaned in to the Mayab culture. Puzzle's and characters where designed with this in mind..

During this time I was leading the heist team and tutoring junior level designers as well having ownership of this heist.

SAN MARTIN

San Martin bank heist was all about selling the Mexican Heisting fantasy. We created a mariachi band to play in the square that could be used as a distraction if given alcohol.
We designed a spectacular alternative entrance to the bank by having one of the characters of the game drive a reinforced truck through the main entrance to then pull out the cashiers bars with a winch. The heist was decide with some of the best loud and stealth elements in mind and was given some new stealth objectives that had not been seen before.

It was before the creation of this heist where I pushed for a new heist pipeline where we had long term goals for what the years heist was going to be about. During this time I also started tutoring junior level designers for the job.

BORDER CROSSING

This was the first heist to be created after the reboot of Payday 2, it was created to be cost effective while also delivereing the players something new. The first part of the heist takes place on the US side of the border, players then have to use a tunnel to get to the Mexican side of the border. After crossing the level has gone from dusk to night and there is no way of turning back. Players then have to fuel up private jet in order to extract with the loot.

THE WHITE HOUSE

The White House was the final heist made for Payday 2 and it was released on the finalday of theBreaking Newscommunity event ofCrimeFest2018,


The goal of the heist is for the payday gang to steal some presidential pardons that are being kept in the "Presidential Emergency Operations Center" under the east wing.


After completing the heist a video will become available showing the ending of Payday 2. For players that invest extra time in the story and complete a number of challanges there is a secret part of the level. If all the requirements are met and the puzzle is completed there will be another video available showing an alternate ending of the game.

SHACKLETHORN AUCTION

Shacklethorne Auction was releasing the third day of theICEBREAKERevent.

The Payday gang has recieved information from one of their contractors that there is a mysterious artifact being auctioned off, The goal is to steal this artifact.


The artifact in question was found together with the remains of the "Shacklethrorn Expedition" and is a mysterious black tablet.


This artifact is one of the pieces required for players to be able to unlock the secret in the "White House" heist.

HENRY'S ROCK

Summary

 

Henry's Rock was released on the last day of the 2018 Spring Break event. It takes place in a secret underground warehouse owned by Murkywater (Private Military Company) where a lot of rare and extraordinary artifacts and technology are being kept. The base also functions as a research facility.

 

The goal is for the payday gang to steal two mysterious boxes that are needed to unlock the secret in the "White House".

DIAMOND HEIST

Summary

 

Diamond Heist is the remastered version of the same level from PAYDAY: The Heist. The the goal is for the payday gang to break into the "Garnet Groups" skyscraper to rob the vault of some very valuable diamonds.

 

When playing on overkill or above there is a small chance that an extra vault can spawn containing the "Red Diamond" giving the player an interesting extra objective with a bonus.
